From the North Region of the BJCP comes 4 new unofficial draft styles to consider. Explore the history and societal significance of Québécoise Rousse, Ontario Pale Ale, Spruce Beer, and Canadian Ice Beer, and consider the questions: are there more unofficial styles to celebrate? Are these legitimate styles that should be included in the BJCP style guidelines? What is the impact of official BJCP recognition, and is it desirable?
This presentation was given to The Canadian Homebrewers Association on July 16th. It was based on research done for the Niagara College Brewing Competition, which every year features a new style from beyond the official BJCP style guidelines. Follow along with the presentation slides here.
